INSPIRING SCHOOL CELEBRATING FIVE YEARS AS MEMBER OF FAMILY OF INTERGEN SCHOOLS
Each school, in partnership with Intergen has been welcoming older members of the community into school to share their life experiences, skills and knowledge to inspire and support pupils.
THE HEAD TEACHERS OF THE SCHOOLS RECEIVING THE AWARD SAID
“We have been with the Intergen programme for five years because of the volunteers. They are incredibly dedicated to the schools and the pupils. They add a different dimension as they are part of the community who are often not directly involved in schools; they bring a different perspective and invaluable experiences”
PROFESSOR RAYNES CEO OF INTERGEN SAYS
“These schools are each an inspiring and welcoming school. For five years they have made the Intergen volunteers, who are older members of the local community, feel a valued part of the school. They are happy to come to school to share their life experience and knowledge with the pupils and staff. They have fun and learn something new themselves.”
In April we presented Inspiring Schools Awards to Fred Longworth High School (left) and Garrett Hall Primary School (right) in Tyldesley. The head teachers were delighted with their awards and want more of the inspiring older volunteers to support pupils in their schools.
